Miriam Stein

Producer

Tama Films co-produces and collaborates with the finest storytellers globally to bring original, emotionally charged human stories to the screen. As its founder and creative producer, Miriam is drawn to adapting books to the screen and has a passion for telling female-centric stories.

Miriam’s feature film credits include; Hey Hey It’s Esther Blueburger starring Keisha Castle-Hughes, Toni Collete and Danielle Catanzariti that premiered in competition at the 58th Berlin International Film Festival. Released in Australia by Miramax Films, it won the AACTA Award For Best Young Actor and the Youth Jury's Michel Award for Directing at the Hamburg Filmfest, Germany. She executive produced Monkey Puzzle, also known as Enter The Wild, starring Ella Scott Lynch and Ryan Johnson that premiered internationally at the Shanghai International Film Festival, winning the Best Environment Film Award and was associate-producer of Accidents Happen starring Geena Davis. For television, Miriam co-created and executive produced the comedy, The Very Trevor Ashley Show, starring Trevor Ashley, Nazeem Hussain, Lena Cruz and Amanda Muggleton (SBS). She was Head of Production & Business Affairs for production company Southern Pictures where she line produced the documentary Played: Inside Australia's Failed World Cup Bid (ABC). As a co-creator of the music format Big Again, distributed by Warner Bros International Production, beat 90 companies worldwide to win the MIPTV Formats International Pitch Competition, and developed formats for ITV Studios America, Channel Nine and production companies in USA, UK and Australia. Miriam was Policy Manager for the Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA) and joint Australian Screen Directors Association/SPAA Documentary Council. Her background includes producing theatre, television commercials, short-films, feature films, scripted and non-scripted television and is graduate of the University of NSW and Australian Film Television and Radio School. A passionate creative collaborator, mentor and networker, Miriam has served on the SPA conference committee, run workshops and spoken at industry events locally and internationally including the Sichuan TV Festival, Chengdu as part of Screen Australia’s delegation to Beijing and Chengdu, China.
